The Greatest

It may have been Muhammad Ali in the boxing world, but in the product world, it’s hard to argue that Steve Jobs wasn’t the greatest ever.

He tackled immensely difficult problems, and generated products that came to define their categories and literally change the world.  Just one such product can define a career, but a stream of them defines an icon, and leads to the most valuable company in the world.

I can’t imagine a world without Apple, and I am grateful that I don’t have to.

I know that the talented employees at Apple have been preparing for this eventuality, and have been practicing by asking themselves “what would Steve say?” for a while now.  While I do not believe he can be replaced, I do think his lessons can be learned, and his passion can live on.

My sympathies to all of the employees of Apple, past and present, that knew and worked with him.
